Late last week, a new law was signed in my home state of Maryland against cyber-bullying prohibiting electronic harassment of a minor based on sex, race or sexual orientation. The new law makes cyber-bulling a misdemeanor. I was very happy to see measures continuing to be taken to stop all types of bullying.
When I was browsing the web for information on this new law, I came across this YouTube video from The Ellen Degeneres Show. I found it very inspirational and I hope you do as well.
If you’ve read my previous blogs, attended my seminars or are a private or group coaching client, you know how passionate I am about always doing the right things and enriching the lives of others. When you enrich the lives of others, then and only then will you be enriched.
What I love most about this video is how the owner of the auto body shop expected nothing but a thank you in return. As you can see, his kindness was greatly rewarded. This is the power of gratitude at its best; giving of yourself because you want to, not because you expect anything in return. When you’re able to do that, the forces of nature give back to you in so many other ways.
It truly is amazing how we create our own self-made prisons with our inner thoughts. Fear, discouragement, hopelessness, self-doubt, they’re all examples of how 98% of all people sabotage their own minds. Upon the first sign of failure, most business owners and people quit. They’re desire to quit is stronger than their urge to continue with the goals they wish to achieve.
Want to know the true secret of success? Begin to think with faith, courage, hope and a definite chief aim or purpose. If you have the ability to think, you have the capability to create infinite intelligence, which when utilized correctly, will lead to unlimited opportunities and success.
There really is no limit on what you can achieve. Limitations are created by you and you alone. If you think negative thoughts, you’ll encounter negative acts and your mind will be filled with fear. This will lead to mental paralysis and stagnation and will result in feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious and stressed.
Nothing can stop you if you have accurate, positive thoughts and the desire to succeed through all the temporary defeats you encounter. These defeats are absolutely necessary because a person will learn more about how to succeed from these failures or temporary defeats than from the so-called successes.
I’m currently reading a fascinating book called “Outwitting the Devil” by the one of the most famous self-help authors and philosophers, Napoleon Hill. Whether you’ve attended one of my seminars, or are a current private or group client, or whether you read my blogs and articles, you know that I study Napoleon Hill’s philosophies very closely.
In the book, Hill says:
“My experience has taught me a man is never quite so near success as when that which he calls “failure” has overtaken him, for it is on occasions of this sort that he is forced to think. If he thinks accurately, and with persistence, he discovers that so-called failure usually is nothing more than a signal to re-arm himself with a new plan or purpose. Most real failures are due to limitations, which men set up in their own minds. If they had the courage to go one step further, they would discover their error.”
Remember the very seed of success is dormant in the failures we experience. So begin to look at these “so-called” failures as opportunities to learn and grow and have the courage to continue to move forward until you achieve your definite chief aim or purpose.
Fail forward, fail fast, but never remain stagnant.

The Secret Weapon Quote of the Week
I came across this very powerful poem published in 1888 titled, “Invictus” by William Ernst Henley. I really hope you’ll read it and understand the power behind his words.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever g-ds may be
For my unconquerable sole.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have nor winced nor cried aloud
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my sole.
Secret weapon analysis:
You truly are the master of your fate and the captain of your sole. You, and only you will determine the fate of your life. And as you’ve heard me say time and time again, the #1 reason businesses and people fail is because of “FEAR”. Note how this is again addressed with the line, “Finds and shall find me unafraid.”

Recently, right before I began one of my mastermind group sessions, one of my participants of the group suggested I watch a video on YouTube. The video, she said, provided an incredibly inspiring message along the lines of what I consistently preach in my speaking engagements, seminars and trainings.
What I discovered was a video providing one of the most powerful and effective lessons I’d ever seen. It originally aired on ESPN and features Matthew Jeffers and an email he sent to Coach John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens during a tough three game losing streak. Please watch it and if you’ve already seen it, I highly suggest watching it again.
It’s even more amazing to watch it today, knowing the Ravens are Super Bowl champions.
Most importantly it should serve as a message to all of us that with the right mental attitude anything is possible. The power of the Universe is within each and every one of us. By directing our mind in the path we wish it to go, we determine our ultimate destiny.

The Law of Success
One of my favorite quotes: Know that whenever you experience a temporary defeat or failure, there is opportunity hidden for you to find. A temporary defeat is an opportunity to learn something new you didn’t know before. This is what I refer to as, “Paying Your Tuition” and is absolutely necessary to attaining success.

Coming this March, I will be unveiling my 7 set cd Secret Weapon series called “The Small Business Secret Weapon Strategies to Unlimited Prosperity” that will show any business owner or person, how to create unlimited success. The set combines 7 of my most powerful radio segments heard live on CBS radio and features cutting edge techniques and strategies such as:

First, let me wish everyone a very happy and healthy holiday and a Happy New Year! May 2013 bring you much peace, happiness, health, prosperity and success.
Speaking of prosperity and success , the title of this lesson, “2013 is Your Year”, couldn’t be truer. Your future accomplishments, achievements, and success depend on one person and one person alone, yourself.
So how do you give yourself the best probability of making 2013 a banner year for you and your family?
Conceive, believe and achieve; the three words I repeat to myself continually throughout every day. If you’re not familiar with this saying, it originates from Napoleon Hill, author of the classic “Think and Grow Rich”. The famous quote is:
“Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, the mind can achieve.”
Conceive- Know exactly what you want. What is your definition of success? Is it a thriving business, a better personal life, more knowledge, a bigger sphere of influence? Whatever you’re goals are, conceive a well thought out plan of what you want to obtain for 2013, a definite date of accomplishing them and the necessary action steps to achieve them.
Desire – We conceive, believe and achieve, but we also must add desire. Desire to be great. You have to desire to want to succeed beyond your wildest dreams. It cannot be a wish and it cannot rely solely on hope. Now don’t get me wrong. Hope is a wonderful attribute. And at times it’s necessary to hope that things get better in certain aspects of life. Having hope may alleviate your fears or anxiety and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, in business, hope is not a strategy. Hope won’t pay your bills or land your next big customer or reduce your operating expenses. Hoping to find that “magic pill” that will turn your company around will unfortunately do nothing more than create more frustration and anxiety. Your success is dependent on choosing a definite goal, and placing every bit of energy you have into making that goal a reality. It must become an obsession that you clearly can see yourself attaining.
Believe-Have absolute belief, conviction. and an unrelenting faith that your goals will become a reality. When you combine unrelenting faith and a burning desire to achieve, you’re unstoppable.
Achieve-Once your mind conceives and you know exactly what you want, you desire to be great, and have an unrelenting faith that you will succeed; your mind is now ready to achieve.
Important Tip: Be prepared to be flooded with new, creative and innovative ideas. This is your subconscious mind working overtime to help you achieve. Carry a small notebook or pad with you and keep it by your bed at night. When those ‘aha moments” arrive, right them down immediately so you don’t forget.
Please remember, it’s all about our thoughts and how we choose to use them. If you choose and desire to be great, you will succeed.
Time is not everlasting yet most people float through life without a plan and therefore, never feel a sense of accomplishment. Don’t let that be you. Make 2013 the best year of your life; conceive, believe and achieve.
